Lantern

Three years as founding designer: AI agents, automations, every edge state.

Overview

Lantern is a CRM built around AI agents and workflow automation. It spots the signals that matter — a champion changing jobs, a target account showing intent — and turns them into action: CRM updates, tasks, Slack alerts and follow-up emails.

I joined as founding designer and took it from 0 to 1. I rebuilt the early foundation, then kept the product moving each time the strategy changed. I owned every place a customer meets Lantern: the product, the sales decks, the strategy and the positioning.

AI agents and the workflows around them

Lantern’s core is a visual workflow builder. A signal, like a champion changing jobs or an account showing intent, triggers the steps that follow: update the CRM, create a task, post in Slack, send an email or hand off to Lantern AI. I designed it end to end: conditions, single, double and triple branches, collapsible groups, multi-select with group, duplicate and delete, and AI steps, from describing an automation in plain language to AI phone calls.

Then the states nobody demos: “Not configured” warnings on incomplete steps, limits like a five-channel Slack cap, empty states and errors. Around the builder sit the agent modules: Champion chaser, Intent chaser, Customer Cloud, Prospect, and Lucy, an AI SDR that qualifies leads around the clock.

When the strategy changed, the product kept up

Lantern moved fast. The strategy changed three times, and each time the product, the features and the website had to follow. I rebuilt them. I kept what worked, cleaned up what didn’t and added what the new direction needed.

Over three years that meant a new foundation, a brand, a website, a pricing page and sales decks. All of them told one story while the company found its shape.

I worked with Eugen for almost three years. He showed real leadership, especially through the hard stretches, when the team needed steady direction with the product. Whenever the product needed something, he was there to help. He took every request seriously, thought it through, and delivered work we could rely on.

Rebuilt the foundation. Then kept building.

I didn’t start from a blank page. I inherited an early version and rebuilt its foundation. Then I kept the product moving with every change in direction. I went past the product too: the sales decks, the strategy, the positioning. Every place a customer meets Lantern makes the same case.
