More states from HelloGov’s passport document verification on a phone, for when things aren’t perfectly linear: someone hasn’t finished their application yet, documents fail verification and need a rescan, one person is done but others aren’t, and the final confirmation once everyone is through.

Two phone screens: one applicant must finish their application first, another must rescan two documents

The tricky part was a family order, where each applicant can be at a completely different stage. One is done, another still has to finish their application, a third has a rescan pending. The screen adapts and always surfaces the most relevant next action, Finish application or Rescan documents, without overwhelming anyone.

The single-applicant views zoom in on one blocker at a time, while the group list shows everyone at once with Start, Finish or a green Submitted check. When the last applicant is through, Scanning complete says an email with next steps is on its way and the window can close.
